Cassiopeia constellation mythology and history

Almudena Conde, a student of 1 high school "C" has sought to fill the contents of the theme of the universe of the subject of Sciences for the contemporary world with the mythological history and description of constellation Cassiopeia.

D and according to Greek legend the sea god Poseidon placed the figure of Cassiopeia among the stars. it is said that Cassiopeia has a ridiculous position and backwards to punish her for being so pretentious. Cassiopeia was very proud of her beauty. She said she and her daughter Andromeda were more beautiful than the sea nymphs, the Nereids.

L
as nymphs complained to the sea god Poseidon, who threatened to send a sea monster and a flood to destroy Earth Cassiopeia. Desperate King Cepheus consulted an oracle to prevent the destruction of his kingdom. The oracle told him that only by sacrificing his daughter Andromeda to the monster could appease the wrath of Poseidon.

Perseus noticed the beautiful woman and fell in love with her. Knowing the history of Andromeda he offered to rescue her if her parents agreed to marry her. With the help of magical sandals that allowed him to fly, and a magic sword given to him Hermes, Perseus killed the sea monster and married her.

sta constellation North distinctive characteristic is his way of "m" or "w". to be as easy to recognize is widely used to find north when Great Bear is not visible.

Gamma Cassiopeiae , located in the center of the "w" is the archetype of a class of eruptive variables which namesake Cassiopeiae gamma variables . Cassiopeia contains two stars visible to glance and are among the brightest in the galaxy : ρ Cassiopeiae and V509 Cassiopeiae .

The Sun, seen from the nearby Alpha Centauri , appear in the constellation Cassiopeia as a star of magnitude 0.5. the well known "w" Cassiopeiae appear to zigzag, with the sun at the far left next to ε Cassiopeiae .
sn 1572, one of the most important events in the history of astronomy was a supernova appeared in this constellation and observed by Tycho Brahe in 1572 .

No, we're not playing "rock, paper, scissors." In the IES Antonio Gala we have supported the campaign against cuts in research budgets. So the signals reproduced campaign logo.

snip Science in Spain does not need scissors ... Experience

That's the title of the initiative that I found on the blog of Javier Pelaez, The village irreducible , And also we have joined since our FiQuiBlog

Since this is a school blog to be their own learners the / as you think and argue for English science needs no cuts, also affects them a lot. So I asked my students in chemistry and science. The reasons given to me were these:
  • On behalf of Jaime: I think they should continue to provide money, lest we become a bit advanced country in terms of scientific factors. We must continue competing countries and continue to make innovations in all sectors achieve a development that ultimately prove beneficial for everyone.
  • Desirée White, Mary and Sara say should not because the money down low interest in science and knowledge, because if we want new technologies and vaccines for diseases we do not know why they want a smaller budget for it. Because if they lower the budgets for science many people would stop studying science-related careers.
  • Paul and Patrick: We should not be cutting budgets for science because it could not continue as it does so much research so far. Not be obtain the resources necessary to carry out this research nor is able to create new technologies or improve the level of science.
  • Nieves Maria Luisa and we should not cut budgets because there are many people who depend on the research of science and also because science makes the country forward. Lorena Gabriela
  • and believe that you should not cut the research budget because: Spain is not a developed country in terms of science is concerned, and cut the budget would prevent progress. In the future, perhaps the students, seeing no effective English systems choose to go to study in countries more scientific advance. If you already have the budget that Spain is one of the most backward countries of Europe in education / science, cutting the budgets would be worse. There are many people working in the domain of research and resources needed, as technology advances every day and you have to keep pace. There are sick people who need to advance science and research is most important in this process.
  • Francisco and Isa say: We are against it because the scientific development is necessary and there are always new projects in which research is needed for peak performance.
  • Cristina, Silvia and Cesar say we can not lose research budget low budget because if researchers would not be as good and could do the same work the development of science is very important because it gives us
  • advances tegnologias
  • For Jose Ramon and Abraham: I think should not cut spending because it left many people without jobs. If you cut back the budget solutions could prevent illness and not spend money just for causing the death of persons, that investigations continue to move to avoid jams, make further progress.
  • Rafa thinks it should continue to provide money because many people depend on it in the field of health. Failure to investigate on diseases and drugs may not help those who suffer illness. Research also is important for a country as it is important to its economy.
  • María José: Well, I think that you should not cut the budgets for science because without them this could not evolve or prove research findings. Science is also necessary for life as we resolve the questions that human beings arose.
  • Lucia: I think you should not lower the percentage of revenue for the research because this is a step towards the future and our country scientists and research are needed to not go to other countries to investigate.
  • Nuria and Celia We think that you should not cut research budgets because there are diseases that must be investigated and any medication that can cure and have no budget to investigate this can not go forward, which also affects social development and welfare. Naxo
  • Helena and believe that you should not cut the budget in science because: Everyone wants to advance science, but if budgets are cut it is impossible to happen. Many people lose their jobs. Much money is allocated to different things and believe that science is more important to cut budgets. Science is good for everyone.
  • Raquel: I say that's not must cut budgets because progress so that there is today would be reduced because they would have no money to do the research needed to think new things.
  • Pepe: I think there should be no budget cuts in the field research because it is very important for the future development of both medicine and the improvement of living standards also seriously would stop development of future scientists and would leave Spain in a lower level compared to other powers European foreign and severely limit what the job offers abroad and that the level of knowledge would be lower.
  • Cristina C.: I think research is needed to make English industries and not have to buy from other countries, thus saving money.
  • Cristimar E.: reducing investment in science and research? so they want to do now? .. and of course you blame the crisis ... And that in itself, Spain is not very advanced in this matter, if we take more of what little we have, how we move forward and become an important country? Science is based, is the future. We need to move, to discover things, investigate, not having to always depend on someone, but have qe own resources to progress. A clear example of this is in large intelligent, who have had move to other countries because there is no media, investment ... that are committed to them. Do not allow and continue to believe in a better tomorrow.
These are some of the opinions of my students, perhaps those / as those most likely to affect the budget cuts, they soon become part of the university and research communities.
